Phishing is a common experience for email users these days. Metropolia email users often receive requests for their network/email passwords, user IDs, and other private data. Some of these emails can be very convincing and appear to be from Metropolia ITS Staff.

However, you should know that ITS will never, ever request your password! Emails requesting your password or other personal data should simply be DELETED upon receipt.

Below are newest message of phishing emails received here at Metropolia and should be deleted upon receipt.

Multifunction and network printers are available once again

Printing environment has been updated and multifunction and network printers are online and available for use once again.

Online purchasing for PaperCut balance is back online and available for use.

Network drives T and W will not be available between Wednesday August 10 4pm and Thursday August 11 2pm. The outage is due to the transfer to a new system.

During the outage, applications that are run from network drive W such as Winha will not be available.
The Winha version which is accessed using a web browser can be used normally during the outage.

If you need the files on network drive T during the outage, copy the needed files to your computer in time before the outage.

Printing environment is under maintenance during August 9th and 10th. Due to the maintenance break, all activities concerning multifunction machines and/or network printers are out of use.

During the maintenance break online purchasing for PaperCut balance is also offline because the background system that handles Papercut payments is under maintenance at the same time.

The current Staff remote desktop (securedesktop) is now accompanied by a new Staff-W10 remote desktop, based on the Windows 10 operating system.

 

With Staff-W10 you can now get to know the Windows 10 operating system and Office 2016 programs. For the present the desktop is in test use and it does not have all programs and settings yet. There is also some lacking in performance and features.

 

Staff-W10 is going to replace the current Windows 7 based Staff remote desktop. An announcement will follow later.

 

The new remote desktop is available the same way as the current one.

The maintenance break will cause interruptions on the following IT services:

Maintenance breaks in the graduation systems do not include Winha, nor secondary education's Primus and Wilma systems.
Breaks in graduation and signing systems will only last a few minutes, starting at 6 pm.

Data system maintenance break on TUE 10/5 and WED 11/5

Starting on Tuesday 10/5 at 4pm and ending on Wednesday 11/5 at 12pm, there will be a maintenance break on Metropolia data systems

The maintenance might cause small issues in the startup of PCs on Wednesday morning. If your PC does not startup normally, and the screen is stuck showing white text in black background, press the ESC button to move the startup procedure forward.

Should the above solution fails to fix the problem, make a service request at Helpdesk.

The network is down in Tikkurila campus on Fri 29.4.

Both the wired and the wireless local networks are down. Because of this, the internet connection, network drives, printing services, and all network services are unavaible.

Tuubi Outage May 3rd at 4 pm (postponed to this date)

Tuubi maintenance break Tuesday May 3rd from 4:00 to 4:15 pm after which

- when a forum entry or comment to an announcement is removed, the actual 'perpetrator' is shown (either the commentator or the administrator)
- no search result from Documents/Materiaalipankki, which is obsolete
- emails by the system are more clear

From then on only necessary repairs will be done on Tuubi. The services og among others Tuubi  will gradually be replaced by OMA. Try it

Editing documents stored in Google Cloud does not work with Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Editing only works in Google Chrome.

The issue is caused by F-Secure Browsing Protection add-on. A fix from F-Secure is expected within 2-4 weeks.

Interruptions in three netdrives on Tuesday 19 of April between 10 am and 6 pm.

On Tuesday 19th of April there will be many short (5min) interruptions in the usage of the following three netdrives, due to updates in the storage servers of Bulevardi campus:

- share-courses - project netdrive

- media-students - J-drive

- share-archive

Read and write attempts of files located in the above mentioned netdrives during the interruptions will be erroneous and will fail. Reboot your workstation, should the netdrive is inaccessible after more than 10 minutes.
