Students, staff and members of partner organizations should activate their new user account using a mobile certificate or a netbank user ID.

If neither of the proposed ways is possible, or you have an external user's account, activate your user account using the activation password printed on the password slip.

The purpose of Activation

When you start as a new staff member or student at Metropolia you will receive a Metropolia account ID. You must first activate your account. Your account will be functional only after activation. The activation password is valid for 45 days, after that you have to get . After that a new activation password is needed. Instructions The instructions for getting a new activation password are the same as in when the case of forgotten password .

The purpose of the activation is that you personally accept the rules of the account usage policy and start using your account.

Activation:

1.  If you don't have an activation slip with an activation password on it, follow these instructions: Forgot Your Password?

2.  Browse to https://1)    Start a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

3)    Press the Return key on the keyboard.

4)   In the browser window you may see the message "Secure connection failed" or some other security-related alert. If that happens you have to accept the certificate. For information about how to accept the certificate, click here.

5)    After accepting the certificate, you will see the text "Metropolia Account Activation" on the screen. Below the text are fields for username and password.
6)    If you are a new student, you have received an accountpaper from the Student Affairs Office. If you are a new staff member, you have received an accountpaper from your department personnel secretary. In the accountpaper you can find your own username and password. Look for the entries "Username" and "Password".

7)    Type your username in the "User ID" field.
8)    Type your password in the "Password" field.
9)    Click on the "Login" button.

10) After logging in you must accept the rules and regulations.

Read the two rules. First click on blue pdf link next to the text "General policy on the use of information systems". The rules will open in an Acrobat Reader window, which you can close after reading the document. Use the same procedure in the "Regulations for handling e-mail" case. Read carefully both documents, because by clicking the "I agree" button, you agree to abide by the rules.

5.  Read and accept Metropolia policy, regulations and terms and conditions.

7.  In the New password field, type a new password. Image Removed
 
11) Next, create a password which you will remember in future. This password will be used to log in to Metropolia workstations and all services. The password must be at least 8 characters long. The characters can be uppercase or lowercase letters or numbers. Special characters such as the letters ä, ö, å and ü have caused problems, so they should not be used. Once you've chosen a password, type it in the fields "New password" and "Confirm new password". Then click on the "Change Password" button.

Retype the password in the Confirm new password field. Click on Change password.

9.  12)    Your account is now activated. Exit by clicking on the "Exit" link in in the upper right corner.
