Deleting Cisco AnyConnect from Mac
Problem
If before you have deleted Cisco Anyconnect from your Mac and you are trying to install it again. You might get the following error message:
"AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client can’t be installed on this disk. Version x.x.x of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is already installed."
Administrator user
To do this fix, you have to be logged in as administrator.
Solution
1. Open Terminal from your Mac:
Open finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal
2. In terminal put the following commands:
sudo -s
[ Type your password. Your password doens't show when typing. ]
/opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn_uninstall.sh
/opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/anyconnect_uninstall.sh
rm -rf /opt/cisco
rm -rf /System/Library/StartupItems/CiscoVPN
rm -rf /Library/StartupItems/CiscoVPN
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext
rm -rf /Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext
rm -rf /Library/Receipts/vpnclient-kext.pkg
rm -rf /Library/Receipts/vpnclient-startup.pkg
pkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.anyconnect.vpn
reboot
Wait until you Mac has rebooted.
3. Try to install Cisco again, following instructions.
What to do in a problem situation?

- If the function you are attempting is happening in a web browser, try the function again in an incognito or private window and in a different browser.

- a general search engine, for instance Google Search
- alphabetical index
- FAQ
