Android: Setting up your Metropolia email account with the Outlook application
Written instructions
1. Launch the Play Store.
2. Go to the search function.
3. Type "Microsoft Outlook" in the search field and press search.
4. Press the Install button.
5. Wait for Outlook to download.
6. Launch Outlook by selecting Open.
7. Select "Add account."
8. Enter your email address in the format: "FirstName.LastName@metropolia.fi". Then select Continue.
9. Wait a moment. The option "Setup account manually" will appear on the screen. Press this button.
10. Select "Exchange" from the options displayed on the screen.
11. Ensure that the "Use advanced settings" toggle is turned on. Fill in all the fields on the screen except for the Description.
- Email address: firstname.lastname@metropolia.fi
- Server: sync.metropolia.fi
- Domain: pk.amk.root
- Username: username (Note: Username is a short ID, e.g., tomitk)
- Password: Your Metropolia password
Then press the checkmark.
Inputs in different versions
Depending on the phone model and operating system version, the domain and username (Domain\Username) may also be requested in separate fields as follows:
Domain: pk.amk.root
Username: Enter your Metropolia username in its short form (e.g., matmeik). In some cases, the format may be matmeik@metropolia.fi.
12. If the app then asks if you want to add another account, select "Maybe later".
You have now set up your Metropolia email account in Microsoft Outlook.
Did you encounter a problem?
- Restart your computer and the device where the issue is occurring. Try the function again.
- If the function you are attempting is happening in a web browser, try the function again in an incognito or private window and in a different browser.
- Try searching for a solution on the site of the IT Services by using the following search methods:
- navigation menu of the site (on the left)
- search machine of the wiki (right upper corner)
- a general search engine, for instance Google Search
- alphabetical index
- FAQ
