Print Monitoring
The multifunction printer system reports printer usage monthly to system administration. Monitoring plays an important part when printing services are develop by the following means:
- Finding the right locations for the devices
- Choosing devices that best meat printing needs
- Managing printer usage with environmental responsibility in mind
- Cost savings
- Introducing new printing practices

On the average, each staff member used to print 5000 pages per year. In 2016 the average had fallen to approximately 2800 pages per employee.
If individual printing figures exceed the average considerably, a meeting between the user and IT Services over printing practices may be in order.
The goal is to find ways to reduce paper consumption and increase the use of electronic tools.
Users can view their own printing balance using the Papercut software installed on Metropolia workstations or at papercut.metropolia.fi.
