What should I do if my laptop doesn't start or gets stuck during startup?

This instruction is for Dell laptops used by staff members.
- Make sure that the laptop is receiving power by connecting it to a power source.
- Restart the computer by pressing the power button.
If the computer doesn't start...
- Disconnect the power cord from the laptop or remove the laptop from the docking station.
- Disconnect any peripherals such as USB drives, printers, webcams, and memory cards from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds until the power lights turn off.
Restart the computer by pressing the power button.
How should I proceed in case of a problem situation?
- Restart your computer and the device where the issue is occurring. Try the operation again.
- If the operation you are attempting is happening in a web browser, try it again in an incognito or private window and in a different browser program.
- Try searching for a solution on the frequently asked questions (FAQ) page.
If the issue persists, contact the helpdesk following the best practice. Always attach a full-screen screenshot of the problem situation to your written inquiry.
