Beginning on January 1, 2012, staff printing, copying and scanning on Toshiba multifunction devices printers will require identification. Identification will be done using a Metropolia ID card. Department codes and passwords will no longer be used. These changes will enchance information security and reliability.

If you do not have an ID card, please contact security manager Ari Hyvönen. The library can issue you a temporary ID card which will be linked to your Metropolia user ID. The library can issue a temporary ID card also to part time instructors and partner organization's staff members. Printing, copying and scanning is personal. Accordingly, you are not allowed to use the porter's or other people's card.

The Toshiba devices printers display the printing and copying fees because students will be charged but staff will not be charged. When printing, the print jobs will be directed to a virtual queue from which they can be printed to paper on a Toshiba at any Metropolia location. This feature can be used e.g. when moving from one location to another. You do not need to carry printouts with you.

All multifunction devices printers will be equipped with an ID card reader. All black and white multifunction devices printers will be replaced by color multifunction devicesprinters. The number of other printers will be gradually reduced during the Spring. At first, printers will be removed from classrooms. The only change in student printing will be in fees. The new contract will bring a small reduction in student printing fees. Staff can use all the devices printers that students use. In addition, there will be devices printers reserved for staff only.
