Setting Up Microsoft OneDrive on macOS
The installation of this application using this guide can ONLY be done on macOS machines maintained by Metropolia.
You can install the application on your own Macintosh home computer by searching for it here:
https://onedrive.live.com/about/download/
The application can also be installed through the Mac App Store.

Written Instructions
- If you do not have the OneDrive application installed, install it through the Managed Software Center.
- Find and open the Managed Software Center. The easiest way to find it is by typing “manag” in the Spotlight search field in the upper right corner of the menu bar.
- In the search field of the Managed Software Center, type “one” and press enter.
- Find Microsoft OneDrive in the search results and select the “INSTALL” button below it. Wait until the application downloads (DOWNLOADING) and installs (INSTALLING). When the button text changes to “REMOVE,” the application has been installed. Close the Managed Software Center by selecting “Quit Managed Software Center.”
- Find and open the OneDrive application. The easiest way to find it is by typing “oned” in the Spotlight search field.
- Enter your email address and select “Sign In.”
- Replace your email address with your username in the format “pk\your_metropolia_username.” On a Mac, you can type the "" character by pressing “alt” and “shift” together, then pressing the number 7 key.
- Enter your password in the “Password” field and select “Sign In.”
- You can skip the introductory information by selecting “Next.” If you want to open the local OneDrive folder on your computer, select “Open my OneDrive - Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy folder” at the end.
- Microsoft OneDrive is now ready for use.
Did you encounter a problem?
- Restart your computer and the device where the issue is occurring. Try the function again.
- If the function you are attempting is happening in a web browser, try the function again in an incognito or private window and in a different browser.
- Try searching for a solution on the site of the IT Services by using the following search methods:
- navigation menu of the site (on the left)
- search machine of the wiki (right upper corner)
- a general search engine, for instance Google Search
- alphabetical index
- FAQ
