Selecting and testing the right audio and video sources in Teams

Audio sources

1. In Teams, click the three dots and select Settings.

2. Select Devices.

3. Select the speaker you're using under the Speaker-heading.
4. Select the microphone you're using under the Microphone-heading.

What audio sources to use?

You can find the right audio sources by selecting the source carrying the brand and model of your deivce.

If you are having a Teams call in a classroom, the audio sources are likely the same as in the picture above.

Adjusting the volume

Note that the speakers your computer is using might not be the same you've selected in Teams. If you adjust the volume and nothing happens, make sure you've selected the right speaker.

1. Click on the speaker icon  located in the botton right corner of your computer.
2. From the drop-down menu select the same speaker you're using in Teams.

Video sources

You can find the camera settings below audio settings, so:

1. In Teams, click the three dots and select Settings.
2. Select Devices.
3. Scroll down the page until you come across the camera settings. Select your camera from the drop-down menu underneath it.

What camera to use?

You can find the right video source by selecting the source carrying the brand and model of your camera.

E.g. I'm using Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 in the picture above.

Testing the devices

You can find Make a test call -button below audio settings, so:

1. In Teams, click the three dots and select Settings.
2. Select Devices.
3. Click Make a test call, after which Teams will start a test meeting where you can test your audio devices and see your video.

You can have a better look at your video in the Preview-box below the camera settings.

What to do in a problem situation?

  2. If the function you are attempting is happening in a web browser, try the function again in an incognito or private window and in a different browser.
  3. Try searching for a solution on the site of the IT Services by using the following search methods:
    1. navigation menu of the site (on the left)
    2. search machine of the wiki (right upper corner)
    3. a general search engine, for instance Google Search
