Search More Effectively with These Tips

The logic of the structure

The IT Services wiki content is gouped by subject (not by organization chart). For example devices are discussed  under the main title Devices. Similarly, Software and Systems are listed under their own main title. If you looking for instructions for a specific system, browse to the software and systems main table and click on the name of a program or system. Agin, general rules and regulations etc. are placed under the main title Information Security guidelines and rules.

Navigation using the navigation pane

The navigation pane is on the left in the IT Services wiki. Click on the plus sign (+) in front of a navigation pane element to open the submenus and subpages.

Navigation using the bread crumb trail

You can move from one subpage to another in the site scructure using the so called bread crumb trail. The bread crumb trail is a link row in the top every page. It shows you where the page is located in the site structure. For example, on User Support (Helpdesk) page the trail Dashboard - IT Services - Front page - Services and Contacts shows the location of the User Support's page.

Navigation using labels

Pages on the IT Services' wiki are marked with labels. Click on a label in the bottom of a page to see a list of pages marked with that label.

The search feature

The search feature is in the upper right corner in the site user interface. The search recognizes also truncated words (so called wildcard search).

General search engines such as Google list IT Services' public pages in their results. For example, you can search for printing in Metropolia by using the search phrase printing metropolia in Google.
