As of this February, MFPs in Metropolia are becoming more environmentally friendly. They produce printouts in Black&White, unless otherwise specified.
Produce colour copies by selecting ?Auto Color? in the MFP?s touch screen. An illustrated guide to color copying can be found in IT Service?s web site

Metropolia IT systems will be updated during the weekend January 26 - January 27, 2013. Due to the updates, there will be short service outages on the following schedule:
Saturday, January 26
Remote desktop service (VMware View)
Sunday, January 27
Web services including Tube, www.metropolia.fi, Moodle, TVJ, Toisu, Wiki
Student Administration systems including Winha, Primus, Wilma
Financial Administration and Personnel Administration systems including Workflow, TEM, HR, STTS
Degree programme specific systems including Tocoman, Smarteam, Nova, Eduplanner, Lean, Educrm, SAP, Zenon, Flash
Videoconferencing systems Lync and Connect
Service outages will be kept as short as possible, approximately 5 minutes per service.
The outages do not interrupt the use of Metropolia workstation environment. Workstations in PC classrooms as well as staff workstations can be used normally.
The remote desktop service VMware View will be unavailable the whole Saturday. Remote desktops will be available again sometime on Sunday.
Laptops will be automatically updated after the weekend when they are connected to Metropolia fixed network.
VMware Client applications on workstations will be updated automatically.
Staff members can download a new VMware Client on their home PCs after the weekend at http://securedesktop.metropolia.fi

There were problems on the Tube on Sunday 20th January 2013.
Multifunction printers have now two new printing queues, one of which is a two-sided in black and white that will be the default printing option on all workstations from the second week of January. The old printing queue will be taken out of use in the near future.
The queues are also available for Mac computers.
Network and local printers' printing queues remain as is.
Two-sided printing in black and white is sufficient for most print jobs. In cases, where one-side printouts are needed, it is easy to change the setting.
With two-sided printing we can reduce paper and energy consumption, while we improve printers' reliability
Instructions on how to change into one-side printouts, and access other settings.
If necessary, one can select a different printer as default, other than the Multifunction printers.
