Metropolia Touch application is developed for students by Metropolia IT services. It can be found in campus lobbies. In the application, students can easily find today's information. This can be for example group schedules or todays menu.
Application that can be used throughout touch screen device includes following information:
- Campus events
- Staff contact information
- Schedules
- Available Computer classrooms
- Menus
- National and international news
- Public transportation timetables
Application and the touch screen devices are already installed and operational in Leppäavaara, Tikkurila and Myyrmäki campuses. Application and devices will also be installed in Bulevardi and Tukholmankatu campuses in August. If the application have an successful launch and it will be approved by students its usage will be extended also to other Metropolia campuses.

Osuuspankki customers' internet service useraccounts have been targeted in a phishing attempt involving fraudulent e-mail. The fraudulent e-mail is titled "Tiedot".
The content of the message is as follows:
"We want to let you know that someone else has been using your account. Please, log into the netbank and affirm that you are the owner."
After the above text the message contains a link that you should never click on! The exact content of the fraudulent mail may vary.
Delete fraudulent e-mail without opening it.
Apple has published a new Mac OS X 10.7 operating system (product name Lion) in July 2011.
However, Mac OS X 10.7 will not be used in Metropolia Mac computers until Adobe's CS5 and Microsoft's Office incompatibility problem's with the 10.7 system have been solved.
Since Adobe's CS5 and Microsoft's applications are the most important tools on Metropolia Mac computers, staff must not update their work computers on their own - and especially not any shared computers.
A shared license covering multiple Mac computers will be acquired for the Mac OS X 10.7 operating system just as soon as the operating system is ready to be used in instruction.
A wider deployment of the Mac OS X 10.7 will not take place until maybe Summer 2012.

Guest account creation has been improved. Now you can create a guest account in advance. You can also set the first and the last dates of validity in advance. The maximum period of validity is still one week.

F-secure will be updated to version 9.11 on all staff computers.
After the installation your computer will REBOOT after two hours or you
can reboot it yourself after saving your current projects.
After reboot you must wait for 5 to 10 minutes when F-secure updates
itself. Email, network drives etc will not work during this process.

Remote-desktop (Vmware View) is being updated on the weekend (Sat. 14.5 - Sun. 15.5)
During this time the remote-desktop will be unavailable.

What are security updates?
A 15-minute b r e a k in the use of Tuubi on May 4th at 5 pm.
Tuubi will be rebooted at 5 pm. Errors creating links in "My Links" will be rectified. The malfunction of the "Preview" in "Documenets" is targeted as well.
The break lasts about 15 minutes.
