There has been unexpected outages at Tuubi today on 6th November 2014.
The system provider is solving the problem now.
Metropolia information systems will undergo maintenance on the weekend November 8-9, 2014 which causes service outages in several Metropolia IT services as follows:
Saturday, November 8, 8am-8pm
Instruction and project web services including users, vhost, and projects servers.
E-mail and videoconferencing
Bulevardi 13, new and old chemistry (uusi ja vanha kemia) data connections will be down.
Sunday, November 9, 8am-8pm
Virtual desktops (desktop and securedesktop)
Common web services, including Tuubi, Peppi, and Moodle
Finance, personnel, building, and study administration services
Wireless network
Short interruptions in workstation services

The online spreadsheets system EditGrid will be terminated on December 31st, 2014.
Copy your still relevant Editgrid spreadsheets onto a replacing system of your choice.
Replacing systems include
Google Sheets, the cloud-based spreadsheet system of Google. It's a part of Google Apps for Education which will be introduced in Metropolia in 2015. It's free of charge. Currently, you can use Google Sheets on your personal Google user account. After the introduction of Google Apps for Education in Metropolia in 2015 you may access the system on your Metropolia user account. It's not recommended to upload personal data or sensitive material onto Google.
Microsoft Excel Online, the cloud-based spreadsheet system of Microsoft. It's a part of Microsoft Office 365 for Education which will be introduced in Metropolia in 2015. After that, you can use Excel Online on your Metropolia user account.
If your spreadsheet is very simple (ie. no schemes etc.) you can also consider copying it onto the Metropolia wiki.

Due to the last week´s blackout in Leppävaara, our user account synchronization service also stopped working. The management system (amme.metropolia.fi) was restarted on Friday 31/10.
The system restart caused login problems to some user accounts. If you face similar problems, you will need to reset/change your password.
How to reset/change your password:
- netbank User ID via http://salasana.metropolia.fi
- get a new password from the local student affairs office or Helpdesk
Lukkarikone (http://lukkarit.metropolia.fi) is again available.
Metropolia's network driver services (all driver letters) will be unavailable a couple of times for about 10 minutes each time on Friday, November 7, 2014 beginning at 3pm.
The services outages are due to an urgent drive system update by the provider.
After the outages the network drives will be connected to workstations automatically. Should the network driver not come back, it is recommended that any open documents are saved to the workstation's local hard drive or a USB drive after which the computer is restarted.
Currently e-mail notifications of received AHOT applications are not generated and sent to the officers responsible for processing applications.
The officers should click on the Tuubi AHOT3 teacher/officer link and check whether any applications are received.
The problem is being investigated and will be fixed as soon as possible.

The computers include a license to an operating system, but no actual OS installed or an installation media.
Every product should be working. If there are any problems, the buyer has to contact Leppävaara's HelpDesk within a week.
As a result of the Schedule Search Machine update,
- The appearance will be unified with the other Metropolia services
- The machine will be faster. The speed increase is implemented in a way that results a 10 minutes delay in data freshness. Accordingly, changes in Peppi will be updated to Schedule Search Machine with a 10 minutes delay.
- Implementation search will improve. Implementations can be sorted using different criteria the same way as in Studies Search http://opendata.metropolia.fi/koulutushaku
- Also some minor fixes will be done to Schedule Search Machine user interface and terminology.
Because of the update, there will be a short (approx. 15 min) service outage after 4pm.
Due to a minor update of the system, there will be a short break of service on the Metropolia wiki platform on September 30th 2014 at 16:00-16:02.

Phishing is a common experience for email users these days. Metropolia email users often receive requests for their network/email passwords, user IDs, and other private data. Some of these emails can be very convincing and appear to be from Metropolia ITS Staff.
However, you should know that ITS will never, ever request your password! Emails requesting your password or other personal data should simply be DELETED upon receipt.
