We recommend the following procedure to avoid running out of charge in the middle of studies:
- Charge the battery full for the next day.
- Take turns with other charging laptop. This way everyone has time to charge their devices.
- In many classrooms there are not enough wall sockets for everyone to charge their devices at the same time. But one half of the group can charge their devices e.g. in the morning and the other half in the afternoon.
- If your charging need is not urgent, please leave the wall socket free for someone whose battery is about to run out of charge.
In study spaces teaching facilities extension chords are used for fixed devices only. Daisy chaining extension chords is is forbidden on safety grounds. Metropolia staff members can charge their laptops in staff work spaces. Most laptops charge automatically when connected to a docking station. Unfortunately some models, such as power portables and portable with no USB-C connector, are not charged by docking stations. They must be connected with their own chargers to the work station's electric socket. This does not prevent the use of the docking station in other ways: the charger is needed only for charging the laptop.
