1. What is Confluence?
Confluence is a tool for collective media, which can be used to produce interactive WWW-pages in e.g. group work (wiki). The administrator of the workspace can assign its users, whom are able to edit areas that the administrator has given rights for.

7. Deleting, moving and restoring pages
7.1 How do I delete a page?
A page can be deleted by a user that has been granted the rights for the Pages Remove -right.
- 7.1.1 Go to the page that you want to delete.
- 7.1.2 Tools -> Remove
Note! “Remove” action moves the page and other possible attached files into the Confluence trash. These files can then be found with Google searches, but not with Confluence’s own search function. If pages and associated files should be deleted, they must be deleted separately from Confluence trash. (Browse -> Space admin -> Trash -> Purge).
Note! “Remove” action also deletes files attached to the page.
7.2 How do I move a page to another directory in the given workspace?
- 7.2.1 Go to the page that you want to move.
- 7.2.2 Tools -> move
- 7.2.3 Write into the “New parent page field”: the name of the directory under which the page is moved.
7.3 How do I restore a previous version of my page?
- 7.3.1 Go to the page that needs to be restored
- 7.3.2 View change
- 7.3.3 Choose the version that you want to restore (e.g. Version 33)
- 7.3.4. Restore this version
7.4 How to restore a page that has been deleted with the “Remove” function?
(The local admin is able to execute the restore)
- 7.4.1 Browse -> Space admin -> Trash
- 7.4.2 Choose “restore” from the page that you want to be restored.
8. How to manage permissions
8.1 Workspaces and personal pages
Each owner of a workspace (i.e. admin) can alter the viewing and editing permissions from the Permissions page, which can be found from Browse -> Space Admin -> Permissions
Permissions can be altered from the Permissions page in the following way:
- 8.1.1 Groups can be added into the workspace under the sub-heading “Groups”, e.g. staff and students. Each group can be assigned separate viewing and editing permissions.
- 8.1.2 Individual users profiles/usernames can be attached to the workspace under the sub-heading “Individual users”
- 8.1.3 Under the sub-heading “Anonymous access” one can alter the accessibility of non-users of Metropolia wiki to the workspace.
8.2 Individual directories and pages
You can alter the permissions to specific wiki directories and pages. A permission granted to the front page of a directory also applies for the subdirectories.
- 8.2.1 Go to the front page of the directory or page itself, which you want to set permissions to.
- 8.2.2 Edit
- 8.2.3 Next to “Restrictions” click the Edit link.
- 8.2.4 Set permissions for viewing (Restrict viewing of this page) and editing (Restrict editing of this page).
8.3 How do I set Restrictions settings?
- 8.3.1 Select whether the Restriction setting applies for viewing (View) or editing (Edit).
- 8.3.2 Select which users receive the permissions for viewing and editing.
- 8.3.2.1 Select users
- 8.3.2.2 Write the users surname to the field Full name -> Search
- 8.3.2.3 Select the user by ticking the box next to the name.
- 8.3.2.4 Select user
- 8.3.2.5 Save
8.4 Handling unfinished content
Unfinished material can be written into the wiki and block out external users the following way:
- 8.4.1 Type out the preliminary version where it will be published later.
- 8.4.2 Click Edit from the Restrictions row (bottom of the page).
- 8.4.3 Select Restrict viewing of this page and Me.
- 8.4.4 Restrict
- 8.4.5 Save
Finalized page is published the following way:
- 8.4.6 Go back to the Restrictions settings and remove the restriction (Remove restriction).
8.5 How do I make a workspace that can be viewed by Metropolia staff and students, but not to other people outside Metropolia?
- 8.5.1 Browse -> Space admin -> Permissions
- 8.5.2 Go under the sub-heading “Groups” -> Edit permissions
- 8.5.3 Write “role>metropolia-all>member” into the space “Grant permissions to”.
- 8.5.4 Save
8.6 How do I add users to the workspace that are not from Metropolia?
- 8.6.1 Send a request for the usernames to helpdesk. Provide the required information. *link*
- 8.6.2 Helpdesk will send the usernames once they have been made.
- 8.6.3 Attach the usernames under “Individual users” like in 8.1.

11. How do I change the name of the workspace?
The admin of the workspace is able to change the name (i.e. the name that can be seen on the front page of Metropolia wiki).

- 11.5 In the space “Description” you can edit the descriptions of the workspace (shown on the front page, under the wiki page title).

12. How do I make a PDF-file from my workspace?
- The admin of the workspace is able to make a printed PDF file from the workspace.
