Word Online on Word-tekstinkäsittelyohjelman selainkäyttöinen versio, jonka Microsoft-yhtiö julkaisi vuonna 2008. Se on osa yhtiön selainpohjaista Office Online -toimistosovelluspakettia. Office Onlinen sovelluksia sisältyy myös oppilaitosten käyttämään Microsoft Office 365 Education -kokoelmaan.
Selainpohjaisella versiolla voi työskennellä siellä, missä verkkoselain on käytettävissä, eikä ohjelmaa tarvitse asentaa omalle tietokoneelle.
Office Onlinen sovellukset toimivat seuraavissa selainversioissa:
- Internet Explorer 9 tai myöhempi
- Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Safari for OS X 10.6 tai myöhempi
Metropolian opiskelijat ja henkilökunta käyttävät Office Onlinen sovelluksia Metropolia-käyttäjätunnuksillaan. He voivat ladata maksutta käyttöönsä myös Office-paketin työpöytäversion. Latausopas.
Word Onlinen kanssa samantyyppisiin palveluihin kuuluu muun muassa Google Docs.
Alkuperäinen Word-ohjelman työpöytäversio julkaistiin jo vuonna 1991, ja sen lähdekoodiin voi yleisö tutustua Tietotekniikan museossa Mountain View'ssa, Kaliforniassa.

Word Online is a browser-based version of Word, the text editor program which Microsoft released in 2008. It is part of Microsoft's browser-based Office Online office application package. Office Online apps are included also in Microsoft Office 365 Education which is used by academic institutions.
The browser-based version can be used anywhere where a web browser can be used. The app does not need to be installed on a computers.
Office Online apps open in the following browser versions:
- Internet Explorer 9 or later
- Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Safari for OS X 10.6 or later
Metropolia students and staff use Office Online apps with their Metropolia user IDs. They can also download and use for free the desktop version of the Office package. Download instructions.
Google Docs is a service similar to Word Online.
The original Word program desktop version was released already in 1991 and its source code is available to the public in Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.
