Security Updates at Metropolia

Security updates are installed in three phases on computers maintained by Metropolia IT Services. Updates are installed as a background process so as to not disturb the users.

Reboot

If a computer has to be rebooted after an update, automatic rebooting is done only during the permitted time window, between 8:45 PM and 7:30 AM, MON-SUN.

If there are software that need to be restarted after reboot or if updates were installed, a notification will be displayed on the screen. By default, the reboot takes place two hours after the update. The reboot can be postponed max. 24 hours. It is recommended, however, to reboot the workstation at convenience, e.g. during lunch.
