Java updates bring constant security improvements and as of version 7.21 the user is asked for permission to run non-signed applications.
Java 7 Update 21
Whenever you access a page that needs to run a Java application, you will see a window asking for you permission. If it is from a desired location, select Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above and then click on Run.
Repeat the process if needed.
Java will warn you if it detects non-signed code in the application. If you are totally certain about the web page, click on Don’t Block.
Mozilla Firefox - Java 6
If your browser has version 6 installed and it has been updated, Firefox will ask for permission to install the new add-on.
Select Allow this installation and then click on Continue.
Click on Restart Firefox.
Mozilla Firefox
Firefox own updates will deactivate the Java plugin if it is an older version. If necessary, reactivate the plugin by selecting Activate.
VPN services
When using Java-based applications, e.g. WinhaPro, through vpn.metropolia.fi connection, the user is asked for permission. Select Always trust content from this publisher and click on Run.
Before the application starts it will ask again the user for confirmation. Select once more Always trust content from this publisher and then click on Run.
Other Java-based applications
Permission to run Java-based applications is always asked. If they are applications that are used frequently, it is recommended to select Do not show this again for this app to avoid unnecessary steps.
