I received an automated notification about the expiration of my account, what should I do?

This response is only applicable to Metropolia staff members, as indicated by the role metropolia.staff in Amme. This response does not apply to the staff members of Helsinki Conservatory and Pop & Jazz Conservatory.
If you are aware that you will be receiving a new employment contract, you don't need to be concerned about the mentioned email notification. The notification is sent automatically when the previous employment contract is nearing its end. When the details of the new employment contract are entered into Metropolia's Sympa HR system by the HR Services or supervisors, and they receive the necessary approvals from the respective supervisors (your supervisor and their supervisor), the validity of your user account will be automatically extended.
The account expiration only occurs automatically in the following cases:
- If your employment contract ends completely and does not continue with a new contract.
- If your employment contract continues, but its details are not entered into the Sympa HR system in a timely manner by your supervisor or the HR Services.
If your supervisor or their supervisor does not have time to approve the details of your employment contract in the Sympa HR system before the expiration of your previous employment contract.
If you are unsure whether your employment contract has been handled in the manner described above, please contact your supervisor or the HR Services for clarification.

If, however, you find yourself in a situation where you need your username between employment contract periods, please contact your supervisor.. They can submit a service request to the Helpdesk and request a so-called partner role for you. In the service request, they need to provide all the information listed on the Partner Organisations and Outsoursed Services' Staff page, even if your personal information is already known to Metropolia.
Everyone can request an additional two weeks of extension from the Helpdesk through a service request when their account is being locked. This allows time to store any necessary information before the account is deactivated.

How should I proceed in case of an issue?
- Restart your computer and the device where the issue is occurring. Try the function again.
- If the function you are attempting is happening in a web browser, try the function again in an incognito or private window and in a different browser.
- Try searching for a solution on the site of the IT Services by using the following search methods:
- navigation menu of the site (on the left)
- search machine of the wiki (right upper corner)
- a general search engine, for instance Google Search
- alphabetical index
- FAQ
If the problem is not resolved, please contact the helpdesk according to best practices. Always include a full screen screenshot of the issue in your service request.
