Factory Image Restore on Dell with SupportAssist OS Recovery

Short instructions:

  • From F12 to the Boot menu
  • Select SupportAssist OS Recovery on the right
  • Connect to the network (WiFi SSID / password)
    • It does not allow connection with username/password authentication - e.g. eduroam.
  • Select Start Recovery → the tool downloads the files
  • It may immediately show the error App failed
    • on a new attempt it usually lets you proceed
  • Select Approve to continue

  • Select Reset in the lower right → Start reset
  • If the WiFi connection has dropped: Set Up Network → Reconnect → Next
  • The window shows the OS information → Select Next

This may require that the computer originally came with Windows 11.
