The presentation technology of the Myllypuro premises will be updated in the summer of 2026
Renewal of AV Equipment from May to September
The presentation technology, i.e., AV equipment, in the learning spaces at the Myllypuro campus will be updated from May to September. The dismantling of old equipment will begin in May. The installation of new equipment will continue at least until the end of August.
Use of Spaces During Dismantling and Installation Work
Your usual space may be unavailable for extended periods during the summer. Please familiarise yourself with the wide range of campus spaces and make versatile use of them.
What Will Change?
The equipment lifecycle is 5–8 years depending on the type of equipment. This summer's installations are part of this standard lifecycle, with a focus on the following areas:
- Replacing projectors with more powerful models: the current lamp-based projectors will be replaced by brighter laser projectors that start up faster and require less maintenance. In some spaces, a display will be replaced with a projector to provide a larger image.
- Improving the general operational reliability of the spaces: as the equipment has aged, faults have increased. Additionally, Myllypuro's spaces have suffered from numerous cabling issues since the beginning. Now, point-to-point signal transfer will be implemented and network-based control will be reduced. This will help decrease the occurrence of faults.
- Touchscreen control panels will be replaced with physical buttons, as the control panels have been one of the weakest links in terms of the operational reliability of the spaces.
- Hybrid teaching and meeting technology will be added to spaces, as we wish to support more diverse use of the facilities.
- Displays and meeting technology will be added to collaboration spaces where such technology has not been previously available.
- Auditoria will be updated. In addition, new camera and microphone technology will be installed for hybrid teaching and events.
In general, the spaces will remain functionally similar to other Metropolia premises. Devices will switch on and off automatically when you connect your computer to the room technology with an HDMI cable.
Spaces Affected by the Update
Updates will be carried out in approximately 200 spaces equipped with presentation technology. This figure includes almost all campus spaces, excluding a few laboratory rooms.
Other Campuses
The corresponding update will also take place at the Karamalmi campus. Further information about the updates will be provided in OMA, if necessary, during 2026.
