Google Docs on Googlen kehittämä sovellus, jossa voi luoda ja jakaa tekstinkäsittelytiedostoja. Se on osa Googlen laajempaa palvelupakettia Drivea, joka taas liittyy muun muassa oppilaitoksille suunnattuun G Suite for Education -sovelluspakettiin.
Tekstitiedostojen luominen ja muokkaaminen on hyvin samanlaista kuin Microsoftin Wordilla tai Open Officen Writerilla. Erityisen käyttökelpoinen ominaisuus on automaattitallennus, joka tallentaa tietyin väliajoin työn alla olevaa dokumenttia.
Oleellinen piirre Google Docissa on sen yhteisöllinen ulottuvuus: palvelussa voi jakaa dokumenttejaan toisille joko liittämällä toinen henkilö dokumenttiin tai jakamalle tälle dokumentin sähköpostiosoite. Ryhmässä työskentely on helppoa, koska järjestelmässä voi useampi käyttäjä muokata dokumenttia samanaikaisesti. Dokumentin sisällöstä voi myös vaihtaa ajatuksia muiden kirjoittajien kanssa Kommentit-kentässä.
Dokumentin eri versioita on mahdollista selata. Valmiin tiedoston voi ladata itselleen tai vaikka julkaista blogissa tai Google Appsin avulla.
