Unreal Engine Instructions
Starting the program
1. When you have logged in to Epic Games Launcher for the first time, Epic Games Launcher may tell you that Unreal Engine is not installed.
2. The problem should be fixed be restarting the program. Close the program first by clicking on the program's taskbar icon and then on Exit in the jump-menu:
3. Restart Epic from the Desktop icon or the Start menu. (In a classroom Epic must started with the "-noselfupdate -skipbuildpatchprereq" options. Otherwise Epic tries to update itself and fails, and begins to check Requirements' installation.)
The program starts, and now it should ask about file associations. You will not have permissions to this as a common user so you should click on No Thanks:
4. Now Epic tells us that Engine is installed:
5. Go to setting in Epic (click on the cogwheel icon in the bottom left). Uncheck Start when My Computer Starts, and Desktop Notifications so pop-ups will not disturb you:
If Epic start in the classroom when the computer starts, it starts without the options in step 3 and is unusable.
So, if you get an error when using Epic or when starting Engine, do the fixes in steps 2 and 3.
