1. In the remote desktop, click on Start menu.

2. Click on Log offIn Start menu, click on Sign out. Notice that the task bar is showing at the bottom of the picture (below) is your own computer's task bar is showing as in the picture below. If it is not showing, the remote desktop is in fullscreen mode.

using the client's Disconnect and Log Off command

When you use a remote desktop with VMware Horizon Client you can also sign out with its Disconnect and Log Off command. If you do so the system does not necessarily warn about unsaved work. You could lose the changes you have made.

  1. Open the Options menu in the remote desktop window. If the remote desktop fills the whole screen you can make the menu appear by moving the mouse cursor in the top center of the screen.
  2.  In the remote desktop window, click on the Options menu and then select Disconnect and Log off. (If you select Disconnect instead, it is the same as closing the window by clicking on the X.)

  3. Confirm logoff by clicking on OK.

Restarting the remote desktop (only persistent remote desktops)

A persistent remote desktop (virtual computer) can be restarted...

  1. ...by selecting Restart Desktop from the remote desktop menu or

  2. by right-clicking the the remote desktop icon and by selecting Restart Desktop.

After the restart, wait approximately one minute while the remote desktop is starting before the connection opens.

If you lose connection to the remote desktop e.g. because of a network failure, your session will continue running for some time. By signing back in to the remote desktop you can get back to the open session.
