What is Copilot Chat?
Copilot Chat is a generative (content-creating) AI or supportive intelligence application created by Microsoft. The term conversational AI is also used.
Metropolia staff and students can converse with Copilot Chat in almost the same way that Metropolia staff converse with the AI service operating at ai.metropolia.fi.
Access
Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account provided by Metropolia in the format ID@metropolia.fi (not your email address, but your ID in its short form + @metropolia.fi, e.g., matmeik@metropolia.fi).
Copilot Chat can also be accessed directly from the main menu on the left side of Teams via the "Copilot" link.
Metropolia staff and students can use the Copilot Chat service at https://copilot.microsoft.com. The service also functions as an extension of the Edge browser. You can sign in to Edge using your Microsoft 365 ID provided by Metropolia.

Use Cases
- Provides answers to various, almost up-to-date questions.
- Summarizes long articles or websites.
- Provides source references for its answers, if needed.
- Creates text.
- Creates images.
- Processes materials (only uploaded data). You can upload files (e.g., PDF, Word) to Copilot Chat or reference them with links, allowing Copilot Chat to summarize or analyze them.
- Language translation and coding assistance.
Does Copilot Chat use prompts to train its AI models?
When using Copilot Chat with a Metropolia ID, Microsoft states that it provides Enterprise Data Protection. This means that conversations and the data used in them are not used to train large language models.
